Inflammatory Responses of Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in Vitro Differ from Healthy Women
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a low-grade inflammatory state with increased serum levels of TNFα. The present study has compared the inflammatory responses to breast cancer cell lines in women with PCOS with healthy women. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) isolated from 50 women with PCOS and 50 healthy controls were cultured in the trans-well co-culture system. These cells were stimulated with two distinct breast cancer cell lines. The proliferation of PBMCs, CD3+CD8+T cell percentages, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) concentration were evaluated after 48 and 72 hours of incubation. TNFα concentration and the proliferation rate of PBMCs after 48 hours of incubation were significantly increased in the PCOS group. However, after 72 hours, TNFα secretion was significantly decreased in the PCOS group. The ability of PBMCs to produce TNFα decreased gradually in women with PCOS. When the effects of low-grade inflammation and endocrine conditions on the cells decrease, the inability of PBMCs to create an inflammatory response will be altered.

Effect of aerobic training in women with polycystic ovary syndrome
Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder amongst women of reproductive age and is associated with various metabolic perturbations. Chronic low grade inflammation has been reported to participate in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome. In this study we examined the effects of 8 weeks aerobic training on serum C-reactive protein level and cardiometab...

متن کاملDyslipidemia in women with polycystic ovary syndrome
Dyslipidemia is a very common metabolic abnormality in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Insulin resistance is a key pathophysiology of PCOS, thus dyslipidemia in women with PCOS may be consistent with those found in an insulin resistant state. In recent meta-analysis, triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels were 26 mg/dL and 12 mg/dL higher, and high-densi...
متن کاملAdiponectin in Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
BACKGROUND Though adiponectin has been associated with insulin resistance and cardiovascular risk factors, the relationship between adiponectin and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) remains controversial. The aim of this study was to compare adiponectin level in women with PCOS and without PCOS, and to investigate the relationship between adiponectin level and metabolic variables including insul...
